Everything goes according to God's plans

One thing that is very clear is that God always has a plan, whether or not we see it or not.  Several things have happened this week that have shown the team God's true power.

Twice, two different groups on our team had saturated and prayed for the wrong area as they were told that they were told that they were in the area that they were supposed to have been.  But in both areas there were some found to come and know Christ as personal Saviour.  It was simple mistake as the areas were close to each other and sometimes the maps are no to exact to the real area.

As we came onto the ministry site yesterday, the pastor had said that since we had already worked so hard this week that he wished for us to take it easy and concentrate on just finishing up passing out the Gospels and not as much as talking to those in each house because the whole idea of this project was to put out some seeds.

Some however wanted to continue and ask for those who wanted a Bible study or who wanted someone to come back and talk more with them.  As one section of the team entered into a new area, the guard told them that they could only place the packets at the houses.  They could not knock on the doors to talk to anyone.  Maybe this was not what we wanted to do but God had already know what was going to happen and the preacher had decided what he decided for a reason.

I will edit this post soon and give the overall stats for the week.

Standing on the sidelines

Last night we should a video and did some other evangelism in a park.  For some time we had been noticing the bus driver was showing more and more interest in what we were doing.  At first, he would drop us off at our ministry site and not eat supper with us.  However two nights prior to last night he started hanging around more.

Last night he came back early and watched the move we were showing and accepted Christ.  There are people on the sidelines, from the outside looking in.  Our opportunities for sharing Christ are always there but what will do or what are we doing to show Christ.  People are watching and waiting every day.

Watching God move....

I do not have very much time to write but one thing that is always great is to see how God is working other people's live.  One of the youth in my group for the first time shared Christ with another.  Not only was it the first time but it was also done in a foreign country to him and in another language.

God has also blessed me with an eager team who does not let the 116ish weather stop them from passing out Gospels.

Van update

Well it is apparent the head is cracked on the van as it is blowing water through the exhaust system and the water is gone.

Also, the team will be here in about 7 hours.  Together as we number near 101, we are anxiously  awaiting a great time in the Lord.

The viaje

On Wednesday, Josue and I set out for Hermosillo Mexico with plans of an overnight stop near the border.  Little did we know, we were going to make this a memorable trip across country.  After about 3 hours of travel, the van broke down and would not crank.  We were jumped off to break down again.  Five and a half hours later we were back on the road.  We waited for about 3 hours on the side of the road for the Green Angels to come and help, when I happened to think that I had the numbers for all of the Baptist Churches in Mexico.  Somehow I was lucky enough to have the number for a church in the next town which was about 20 minutes away.  I spoke to the pastor on the phone and explained the situation and as he was coming to get us, the Green Angel showed up and towed us.  He directed us to the electrical mechanic and took us to eat lunch as the shop was closed.  For the 5 1/2 hours off of schedule, it took about five minutes to fix the van for us to hit the road.

I could not help to think though, how many not just pastors but Christians in the United States would have been willing to go so far out of their way to help us and take us to eat?

So the next day comes without a flaw until we are 10 minutes away from our hotel and final destination.  The van overheats and is without oil.  We were stranded for about an 1 1/2 hours.  After I finally pulled into the hotel, I parked in front and got our room card.  I stepped back into the van to find out it would not crank, but it was okay because we were at our final destination.  Still as of now, it has the appearance that the funeral for the van is upon us.

Please remember us in your prayers this week as about 101 of us have gathered together to spread the Word.

The calling.....

One day as I was reading one of the blogs that I read, I came upon the post, What are we doing here? by Guy Muse.  I had previously written among these lines in Why we do what we doI think they are good questions from two different perspectives.  Personally, why do we do what we do and from others asking why do we do what we do, the questions often come up.  For one, I have realised that some will never understand until they have seen it first hand and then, some still will not understand.

On a personal level it is always good to evaluate why we are doing something.  To often I have seen that pride works its way into the ministry and the work stops being about Christ and more of those who are doing it.

Others in turn complain about their work because nothing happens but fail to realise that it works in two directions.  Not only must others be willing to work but we must be willing also.  Sometimes we sit around waiting for things to happen, thinking God will make it happen if we just wait.  I have to admit there is a time for silence and then their is a time for action during the silence.  If I waited for others all the time, nothing would get done. Now I realise that I have probably seemed to have turned a 180 from what I was originally talking about, but there is something serious here.  What are we doing here? definitely applies in this situation.  It can be depressing to work in the ministry.  Here just as everywhere else the majority sit around and wait for someone else to do it.  That is depressing, but at what point do we let that take control of our lives?  Do the world and the people within it rule over our lives or does Christ?

We have to ask ourselves several questions.  What is my calling?  Am I following God's calling?  Am I doing it all for the glory of God or for the glory of self?

We cannot let pride destroy ourselves.  I think of the Southern Baptist Convention and the younger generation.  It is full of pride and self boasting. Along with them we are plagued by fly-by-night feel good watered down pretenders who say they are having church and reaching the world.  If the convention is plagued by arrogance, who will people respond to?  The arrogant or the feel gooders? It is time for us to put off our old self and put on the body of Christ.

Airlines & Airports Part II

So before I had stated I did not know what the deal was about this team's bad luck and airlines but I think I have about figured it out.  Might I add, just as last year, they encountered trouble on the way home also.

But anyway, I will leave you with this:  http://aa.com/rainbow.  It sure does explain a lot for me.  Our solution is since we have a choice, American Airlines will not be used again.

Airlines & Airports

I am not sure what the deal is with this particular group that was supposed to have come in last night but somehow they always seem to have trouble with the airlines.  Dallas was shut down today due to "weather".  They were unable to connect and now will be coming close to noon tomorrow.  Please keep them in your prayers as they left very early this morning (like close to 6 a.m.) and will be staying the night in the airport.  Pray that God will renew their already worn down bodies and minds.
